The transmission however takes a GL4 rated gear oil or synchromesh fluid. A gl5 rated oil has too much sulfur in it which affects the synchromesh parts. The harder way, would involve pulling both axleshafts, the driveshaft, and then the differential, because the "cover" is your axle beam. The problem with only one bottle is the increased amount of fluid the Dana 70 and 80s have over the 60. Seen enough of the 70s eat up the clutches by not adding enough slip lube. In my personal experience, the Dana 50 will take about 2.5 - 2.75 quarts to fill to the plug. As far as I know, the D50 and D60 use the same case, so they SHOULD have the same capacity.
