So here's what you do: Get close-ish to a few sinomacrops, then just stand still and wait for them to come to you. Let them land and start backing up slowly, so they'll follow you. If it's a low level, just kill it so a better one will spawn. If it's a high level, wait till it is right at your feet, then place your wooden cage right on top of it.
